Excellence in Agricultural Law

Description

The AALA’s Excellence in Agricultural Law Award recognizes AALA members for outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the agricultural community. These awards acknowledge members from various professional sectors, including one from each of the following sectors. Membership in AALA is required at the time of the award.

  1. Private Practice
  2. Academia
  3. Government
  4. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
  5. In-House Counsel

Criteria

The AALA awards committee will select recipients who have made outstanding contributions to agricultural law through any of the following.

  • Legal Representation
  • Continuing Legal Education
  • Professionalism
  • Pro Bono Service
  • Public Education Programming
  • Classroom Teaching
  • Public Policy
  • Public Service
  • Leadership
  • Court and Appellate Cases

Where to Submit

Please use this Nomination Form and email it along with any relevant information to info@aglaw-assn.org with the name of the award in the subject line. The deadline is September 16.

Awards winners will be announced and presented an award on November 7 at the 2025 Annual Education Symposium in Scottsdale, AZ and subsequently announced via an AALA publication and press release.

Required Submission Information:

  • A summary of why you are nominating this person and/or a letter of recommendation from someone within the industry
  • Specific examples of contributions in the criteria areas
  • Supporting documents or testimonials (if applicable)

Encouraged Submission Information – Not Required:

  • Nominee’s CV, professional biography, or link to professional web profile/LinkedIn profile, or other supportive information.

Selection Process:

  • The submissions will be considered by the Awards Committee, a committee comprised of volunteer AALA members.
  • Up to one winner per sector is selected annually.
  • The Awards committee will consider the quality and impact of the contributions of the nominated individual.
