AALA member Fran Miller, senior staff attorney and adjunct faculty with the Vermont Center for Agriculture and Food Systems, was quoted in Progressive Farmer’s “Land Legacy How-To”, which described how succession strategies for land vary in cost and goals. In part, she explained that gradual succession can help the exiting farmer maintain quality of life through retirement and gives the entering farmer time to gain experience in managing the land and the business.
