Welcome to the 2017 AALA Annual Agricultural Law Educational Symposium at Louisville, Kentucky, October 26-28, 2017. Home to the Kentucky Derby and the Louisville Slugger, Kentucky is also a major player in our food and agricultural sector. It’s the center of equine law, many animal nutrition and health companies, and of course, it is the birthplace of Bourbon, “America’s Native Spirit.” Louisville distilleries make 1/3 of the world’s bourbon. Kentucky produces 95% of the world’s supply, contributing $3 billion annually to the state economy.
Our program reflects our Kentucky venue but also focuses on major federal and state issues. Our two featured speakers include U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue (invited) and Ray Starling, Special Assistant to the President for Agriculture, Trade and Food Assistance at the National Economic Council of the White House (confirmed). More detailed information on the agenda may be found here.
